Looking for a good gift idea? Why not give people the gift of time? Instead of giving them another item that they’ll have to find a place for, you could give them something that will save them some time, like a free housekeeping session or one free week of lawn maintenance. Or you could give them a gift that will allow they will enjoy, like concert tickets, a gift card to a nice restaurant, a movie night (complete with tickets, money for popcorn, and babysitting services), an airline or hotel gift card, a spa day, or an invitation to a golf outing. My Mom always struggles with gift-giving occasions, wanting to know months in advance what we want for our birthday or for Christmas. The funny thing is, one of my favorite birthdays was when we spent the day together driving around north Texas. It was before she moved her, and I took her to a number of parks and other places where she could take pictures, which she loves to do. We both had a great time. I have no idea what gift she bought me that year, but I’ll never forget that day. A twist on this idea, especially for family members, is to give them a memory. You could put a bunch of old family photos into a book and get several copies made, or you could create a recipe book with some favorite family recipes and the stories to go along with them.
