“Remember that time…”

Write a book. How? By putting your memories on paper. This is actually a great way to capture all those sentimental memories so you can look back on them later. And it’ll help you get rid of the actual things that are currently serving as placeholders for those memories.

Timeline – puts everything in perspective. So does top three things.

Your kids and grandkids will want to hear your stories. I mentioned taking a picture of an item you’ve been hanging onto, writing down your memories about it, and then getting rid of the actual object. Yes, this is a great way for you to hang onto those memories and revisit them later in life, but it’s also a great way to share some stories with your children, grandchildren, and other people who are important to you. But some of us don’t like to write, so an alternative it to record a short video of you with the item where you tell the story in your own words. Believe me, one of these days, your family members will want to hear those stories.

My Grandpa was the best story teller. And he had a million of them. I remember begging him to write down or record some of those stories. I even bought him a tape recorder (yes, I’m dating myself), some tapes, and an external microphone. When he passed away, I found all of those items in his house, still unopened. My heart sank. Nobody could tell a story like him, and now they all were lost. While cleaning out his desk, though, I found an old cassette tape with a sticky note on it that just said “things.” I decided to play it, and to my relief and delight, he actually had recorded a few of his tales. The recording started off “some time ago, my Grandson said Grandpa, you should record some of your stories. So that’s what I’m doing.” Unfortunately, the tape was old and the sound was distorted, but it’s still one of my most prized possessions.

Top three things – this will help you see how you’re spending your time. If you look back and it’s not an interesting story, maybe you need to spend your time differently.

History can be fun: Flashback Friday throwback Thursday Memories – On this day. People think they don’t like studying history but they actually do he just has to be something they’re interested in or present it in a way that they like entertainment tonight.

Book – great way to leave a legacy. Could read if you get dementia, like The Notebook.
