Do you get nervous when you have to perform, when all eyes will be on you? We all do. But there’s really no reason to be. Most of the time, when have to do a speech or presentation or performance of some sort, our audience is usually relatively small. Most of the people we know won’t see it. And, most of the time, we don’t know everyone in the audience and probably won’t see them again, so it doesn’t really matter what they think. Also, everyone gets nervous in front of a crowd, so most people are pretty forgiving if you make a mistake. In fact, when people are themselves and make a few mistakes, it’s sort of endearing—people will cheer you on and want the best for you. Finally, and most importantly, people have short attention spans and short memories. Regardless of how you do, it will soon be forgotten by most in attendance.
