Opportunity Cost

When we decide to do something, we’re effectively cutting off another opportunity. This can be difficult because perhaps we’ve already put time or effort into the other option. Perhaps we have a skill that will go to waste if we do not pursue it. But remember, we need to find the “highest and best use” for our time. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. It’s just like with do-it-yourself projects – sure, with the help of YouTube, you’re probably capable of fixing the leaky toilet, but is it really the best way to spend your time? Not everything can make the cut. When making a movie, some of the scenes they film end up on the cutting room floor.
