Highest and Best Use

One example of this is in the movie Two Week Notice, starring Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock. Grant’s character, a multi-millionaire real estate developer, has plans to tear down a community center and replace it with high-rise apartments. Bullock’s character, who spends her time protesting projects that she believes harm the community, does what she can to change Grant’s mind. While there were plenty of reasons to keep the community center, this was only an issue because the “highest and best use” of the property was a newer, bigger, and more expensive building.
