Get Rid of Junk, Not Memories

Clutter and time go hand in hand. Why? Because touching things, moving things, storing things, thinking about your stuff – it all takes time. Get rid of it and you won’t have o deal with it again. But what if there’s an emotional attachment? I totally understand – I’m a bit of a hoarder myself, mainly because these items, even if they’re no longer useful, represent memories. They represent a time in my life, perhaps a happier time. So keep them while getting rid of them. How? Take a picture of the item, write down your memory about it, then get rid of it.

This task will also help you write the story of your life, which I highly recommend. It’s a way of preserving the time we’ve already spent so we can look back on it years later. But we don’t have to keep the item to keep the memory.
