When someone walks into a new space, he or she can normally spot what needs to be changed right away. Because that person is not familiar with the space, the needed improvements stick out like a sore thumb. They have fresh eyes. They may mention things you’ve never noticed or that you’ve long since forgotten. They’re familiar to you, so your eyes filter them out. It’s the reason that companies sometimes hire consultants. An outsider can often see what we’re unable to see internally.
