Blurred Lines

Some people like a clear delineation between their work and personal life. They go to work for eight hours a day, and after that, their time is their own. And I’m occasionally jealous of people who can do that successfully. I just don’t know how realistic that is in today’s world, at least in certain industry. As remote work has increased, and with the amount of connectivity we have with cell phones, email, text, etc., the lines between work and home life have become pretty blurred. And that may not be a bad thing. While it does mean doing work on personal time from time to time (or more often than that), it also means that we can take care of personal business while we’re “on the clock.”

Ultimately, if the boss trusts you to be an adult and do your job, people will perform. When they’re micromanaged, they try to get away with stuff.
