Video Calls

Remember growing up when video calls seemed so futuristic? Now we take it for granted. But it is really cool that we can now have face to face meetings from a distance. We can have intimate conversations with people we care about without the time and expense of travel. Is it a replacement for in-person visits? No, of course not. But if you don’t have the time or money for a visit, isn’t face time better than an occasional phone call? My wife’s Dad has signs of dementia, and it’s getting worse. So all the kids are trying to visit him as much as possible. With the Echo Show, someone, or everyone, can “visit” him every day. In fact, we just used the technology to do a rosary for my wife’s Grandma from a distance. As good as being there in person? No, of course not. Better than not participating at all? Yes, most definitely.

A lot of people think that zoom meetings are less personal than face-to-face meetings but in a way or actually more personal because you get a glimpse into the persons at home life.
